It is the largest lake in Bangalore, so i was told, i decided to verify the information. No i didn't go to Bellandur and check out the lake, i did what a responsible netizen would do, open Google Maps :) . And yeah, it did look larger than other lakes in Bangalore.
So on one pleasant noon i decided to visit the lake, roam around its pristine surrounding and may be capture some snaps of the setting sun. I took the road adjacent to the Total Mall in bellandur, it leads you to one edge of the lake. When i reached there, my first impressions were far from mental images of the pristine surrounding. I was welcomed by disposal end of the lake, the huge formation of lather formed due to dirty water. I felt sorry for the rare few egrets flying around the dirt.
There is a temple just beside this dump. I guess it was built when the lake was still clean. Anyways i trudged ahead and away from this site. The lake grows calmer, be careful if you are on this road, it is curved and is a blind spot for vehicles. The initial 100 yards or so aren't barricaded but they are nevertheless dense with vegetation. There was a stream of sorts dividing the vegetation and connecting to the lake and there was an inverted coracle where the stream met the lake. It looked scenic and it is something i still clearly remember apart from the sunset. Here is what i saw.
The fence starts appearing after some distance. it does block your view a bit, but then there are breaches in the wire mesh further ahead at couple of places. It gives a very beautiful vantage point, and especially so when the sun is setting. It looks awesome, the ostentatious way in which natures paints its colours on the sky and the lake is a sight to behold. I did find a breach to take pics from. It is funny to notice, wherever you take a pic in Bangalore you will notice a tower crane in the landscape. So was the case here, sharing the screen space with Sun and Bellandur lake was a tower crane.
